Transferring calls and phone numbers needed?

So I'm setting up an office phone system and not sure how to configure it so it performs like I want. Here's the scenario, the office will initially be a three person office and eventually start to grow to more people. It's a finance firm with an assistant and another employee will eventually be joining. The company has their own personal number I have set up with Callcentric at the moment. They want the assistant to answer all the incoming calls when the assistant is in the office, but the company owner should be able to pick up the calls when the assistant can't (out of office etc.). The owner also wants to be able to have the assistant transfer a call to her when a client needs to talk to her immediately. I currently have it set up so both phones ring, but can't transfer calls between phones.

When building the PBX with your PBX builder I'm not sure if I need to purchase two unique numbers for each phone or can I just split both phones off the incoming "Answer Call" element and give them diff extensions.

With Callcentric first phone is the main number and when additional phones are added as extensions they tack the extension (three more digits) on the end of the main number. For the extension phone to ring I had to add a call treatment to ring it in parallel with the main phone number.

Ultimately the same main number needs to be seen on both outgoing phones caller ID.

Transferring calls and phone numbers needed?

Hi Kelly,

This is a pretty simple setup and you should be able to achieve it without much trouble. Your RingRoost PBX should be setup like so.

1) 1 answer call control

2) 3 SIP phone each with it's own extension. We will use 1,2,3.

3) Connect the answer call control to all three sip phones, when a call comes in all 3 phones will ring. Whoever answers first will then "win" the call. They may then transfer the call by pressing the transfer button on your phone and then the extension number (1,2 or 3 here).

As far as ringing only one extension when an external call comes in. You can either get a dedicated phone number for each extension and directly connect a answer call control to that SIP phone or you can use the "Menu" control and promt the user to enter the extension they would like to reach.

For caller id, you can set the caller id on the SIP phone to whatever number you want as long as the number is assigned to your ringroost account.

Here is a picture of how you probably want to setup your system.
