Phantom calls on Ringroost extensions, DRIVING US CRAZY

Hello,

We have an ip/switch routing calls along with ringroost setup on each phone sip account. Every few days we are getting attacked with calls, most likely someone trying to access a voicemail account.

Last time you folks mentioned changing port # on all phones. This didnt work and the problem is RRoost only our other accounts do not have this problem.

What is the fix? This problem is a huge issue and we are getting frustrated given this situation is obviously an attack on your end.

Help please.

Phantom calls on Ringroost extensions, DRIVING US CRAZY

Hi Sean,

We are going to see if we can trouble shoot this issue on our end, but had a few questions.

1. Can you identify/see that phantom calls in your calls? if so can you provide a few.

2. What callerID do you see on your phone when your getting attacked by phantom calls.

Thanks,

Phantom calls on Ringroost extensions, DRIVING US CRAZY

Hello,

We are getting calls from internal extensions, 300, 301, 101, 100000, 99999, recently the extensions started to look more like our internal extension prefix.

Today we see 3001, 5001, 6001, similiair to our prefix.

The phone rings on all ringroost sip ext, however today its ringing on 2 of the 3 RR extensions.

Its like crying wolf and the more you cry knowone believes you. My employees are getting discouraged and I dont want to revert to another provider.

Please help this is insane.

The phone will ring both lines almost non stop on one extension and sometimes roll over to other extensions. It seems to hone in on one extension and it wont stop all day. Then its gone for a few days only coming back with a new sequence to the extension.

Phantom calls on Ringroost extensions, DRIVING US CRAZY

Hi Sean,

These do appear to SIP scanners on your local network, as we don't see any traffic coming from the RingRoost servers. Here are a couple of ways to solve this issue:

1. If you have access to your network firewalls, simply blacklist all SIP traffic and then whitelist RingRoost IP's:

23.92.16.146

80.85.85.126

2. If you don't have access to these settings you can prevent sip scanning on Grandstream phones by:

Going to SIP Settings -> check "Accept Incoming SIP from Proxy Only"

- You will need to do this for each SIP Device.
